Mercy's Total Joint Replacement Program includes a pre-surgery education class. This is a FREE class designed for patients who are scheduled for a Total Joint Replacement (knee, hip or shoulder) and their family members and/or caregivers. Individuals who are considering surgery, but are not yet scheduled, may also attend.
During the class, participants will:
- Learn what to do to prepare for your procedure and hospital stay
- Learn what to expect before, during and after surgery; while in the hospital; and after returning home
- Meet the caregivers who will be with you during your hospital stay
- Learn about what measures are taken for managing pain and preventing complications
- And more!
By the end of the class, participants will have an understanding of everything from their initial hospital stay through post-operative and recovery phases of their treatment.
Helping you know what to expect is one way Mercy helps to take away some of the anxiety, replacing it with an assurance to you every step of the way.
If you are having your Total Joint Replacement surgery at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, please bring the completed two forms below to your pre-surgery education class*. The information on these forms allows your care team to better determine your physical therapy needs after surgery.
*If you are unable to attend the pre-surgery class, please bring the completed forms when you come to the hospital for your surgery.
